Description
Rare map of southern part of Mexico. From "Novus Orbis, sive Descrptio Indiae Occidentalis." This collection of voyages is often referred to as an edition of Herrera, which is not strictly correct. The lack of any great detail on this uncommon map reflects the official policy of protecting Spanish knowledge of the New World. Despite this the outline of the map is accurate for the period concerned. Later editions by De Bry and Hulsius. Uncoloured.
